Job Description

This is to notify you that INEC is recruiting AdHoc staff for 2027 general election and if you’re interested, visit pres.inecnigeria.org between 8:00am of 18 September 2026 – midnight of 18 November 2026 to submit application.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was established in 1998 to oversee, manage, and organize public elections from Federal to Local Government level. With respect to the 2027 general election that will be held in January, the commission is recruiting interested and eligible citizens who wish to serve as ad-hoc staff.

Open AdHoc Positions

• Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs)
• Presiding Officers (POs)
• Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs)
• RAC Managers and Registration Area Technical Support (RATECHs)

General Requirements

• Applicant must be a Nigerian citizen.
• Should have a National Identification Number (NIN)
• Must have O’level and other academic qualifications.
• Should be able to communicate effectively in English.
• Must not be a member of publicly affiliated with any political party.

Eligibility for Each INEC Ad-Hoc Staff Position

1. Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs)

• This role is open to Flat, Public/Civil Service staff from level 10 – 14.
• National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members currently serving can apply.
• Persons who completed NYSC within the last three (3) years i.e. 2024 – 2026 can as well apply.

2. Presiding Officers (POs)

• Students from Federal and State institutions who are either in year 1 or 2 can apply.
• Permanent staff with OND i.e. level 7 – 10 in any Federal or State Ministry, Department of Agency (MDA) can apply for this role.

3. Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs)

• Students in tertiary institution be it University, Polytechnic or College of Education can apply.

4. RAC Managers and Registration Area Technical Support (RATECHs)

• This is specifically suitable for Head teachers or Head of school that meets NAC, B or C1 and above etc.
• INEC IT staff that their duty would not clash can apply.
• NYSC serving members or IT student from both Federal and State tertiary institutions can apply.
